We are a friendly band who enjoy playing a wide variety of music. Our rehearsals are focussed and productive but we keep them relaxed and support each other to keep improving. We are all keen to play fabulous music to a great standard but we also want to make sure the experience remains fun and enjoyable.
The band are constantly in demand to perform at events throughout the region - including at popular venues such as Harewood House, Cliffe Castle and Harrogate Flower Show. During the summer we enjoy performing on local bandstands and the run-up to Christmas is always great fun with smaller groups out busking. We also plan a number of more formal performances, including joint concerts with other local choirs and bands.
Despite a busy calendar of musical events, the band always makes sure there are plenty of opportunities to socialise together. Our rehearsal venue - Baildon Hall Club - is a lovely place to relax with a drink and catch up after rehearsals. We also occasionally leave our instruments behind and venture out for band walks in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Our social committee is very active organising band parties, trips to the theatre, quiz nights and much more. Planning is also under way for a weekend away in 2025.
If you would like to become a member of the band, one of the first things that most musicians want to know is how they would fit in.
The best way to find out is to join us at one of our rehearsals.
We rehearse at Baildon Hall on Thursdays between 7.30-9.30pm and Sundays between 10.00am-12.00 noon.
We are always looking for additional players. At present we are particularly recruiting for the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, French horn and percussion sections but all applications are welcome.
So, if you have a minimum grade 5 playing standard (or relevant experience) why not get in touch?
To do so, please contact our MD Matt McKirgan:
or use the contact form to tell us a little about your experience and what you play. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible about coming to play with the band during a rehearsal.
