Tim Gillies

Bradford Concert Band (BCB) are delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Gillies as our new Musical Director. Tim has recently completed his Masters degree in Musicology at Leeds University. He will start conducting the Band in early November 2017.

He brings with him many years of experience in leading musical ensembles, having conducted the Leeds University Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, as well as directing Mozart’s Don Giovanni in February 2017.

Welcoming Tim to the band, Chair, Richard Powne, said “We are absolutely delighted to appoint Tim as our new MD. We are really looking forward to working with him to drive BCB forward over the years ahead. He will bring a dynamic, fresh and youthful approach as part of our overall programme of reinvigorating BCB.

“We would also like to offer our heartfelt thanks to long time BCB member, Steve Williams, who has led the band for the past two years and has decided to take a break from conducting BCB. We hope to see him back playing with BCB before too long.”

Commenting on his appointment, Tim said “As BCB enters an important transitionary phase, I am extremely excited to work with the band’s talented and devoted members and direct them into the future.”
